Jeremy McCarter wrote cultural criticism for New York magazine and Newsweek before spending five years on the artistic staff of the Public Theater, where he created, directed, and produced the Public Forum series. He served on the jury of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and is writing a book about young American radicals during World War One. He lives in Chicago. Lin-Manuel Miranda (Book, Music, and Lyrics/Alexander Hamilton) is the Tony and Grammy award-winning composer-lyricist-star of Broadway's In the Heights--winner of four 2008 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Orchestrations, and Best Choreography with Miranda receiving the award for Best Score. Additionally, he is the co-composer and co-lyricist of Broadway's Tony-nominated Bring It On: The Musical and provided Spanish translations for the 2009 Broadway revival of West Side Story. Miranda, along with Tom Kitt, won the 2014 Creative Arts Emmy for Best Original Music and Lyrics for their work on the 67th Annual Tony Awards. In 2015, Miranda was named as a Fellow of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. He lives with his family in New York City.

Fabulous book! I know all the music and have seen the musical, but I learned so many interesting things about the historical background and am even more blown away by the ingenuity of Miranda's lyrics. I was fascinated by the margin annotations in which Miranda explained some of the revisions he made along the way and why. He's simply a genius is all I can say, and a neat person on top of all that. I read every word of this book and pored over the photos from the Broadway performances. Miranda also gave insight into the backgrounds of all those involved with the musical--from the stately African American who played Washington to the young Shakespearean performer who played Eliza. Reading how the musical was cast was also fascinating, as were the references to rap artists I didn't know before. Brilliant--every line of both this book and the musical!

Ich liebe das Musical und dieses Buch braucht man einfach als Riesenfan. Sehr schön verarbeitet, mit einem Look wie aus den Zeiten Hamiltons. Super viele interessante Hintergrundinfos zu den Lyrics, der Entstehung und der Produktion allgemein. Und viel größer als erwartet! Waren die besten 25€ die ich in letzter Zeit ausgegeben habe.
An absolute must have for every Hamilton lover!First of all: The details of the book itself are amazing and fit perfectly into the Hamilton atmosphere (timeless but also historic).Second: The book gives so much background information! Not only from Lin but also from the actors and other important people.The photographs are also absolutely beautiful.
Ein wunderbares Buch, was ein paar sehr interessante Hintergründe in die Entstehung des Musicals gibt. Es sind viele Bilder drin die einem auch "Einblicke" gewären. Sehr viele Randnotizen von Lin zu den Liedtexten sowie die teilweise ungekürzten Liedtexte. Einfach wunderschön.
Das Buch kommt in einem sehr schön gestaltetem Design mit vielen Hintergrundinformation, die besonders die Lyrics noch besser verständlich und interessant machen. Der Einband kommt in einem festen lederartigen Design, der sehr gut zur Gestaltung der durchaus vielen Seiten passt.

Sehr schönes Buch, für Fans unverzichtbar. Ansonsten ist es stabil und vom Stil her richtig schön und wertig. Das ist nun schon das zweite Buch welches wir davon kauften, dieses hier als Geschenk.
